I went to a highly disorganized party on Friday where there were 300 people and nobody in the family gave a monkey’s about any of the guests. It was, of course, catered, and the food was good except that it was cold when it was finally served and there was nobody in charge taking care of things. I stood in line for dinner for an hour and when I was near the front, the lady of the house literally shoved past me. Cheers, that was fun!
The other night I started watching “My Blueberry Nights” and after 20 minutes turned it off because it seemed to be rubbish: one of those movies that quietly prods along without gathering any momentum and thus not going anywhere.
Then today I went to the video store: walked by it and noticed a little Cannes label signifying that it won something or was nominated.
So, of course, I’m trying to sit through it again. Lets see how far I get.
Yeah, I’ll admit it, once in a while I royally f*ck up and this was one of those days. I went to meet a work associate at the wrong location of a store and didn’t realize it until I got there, called her repeatedly and realized that we were both technically standing in the same place and couldn’t see each other.
And yes, she was pissed on the phone but ever so sweet when I finally made it to the right location. Thank goodness, everything after that went well and hopefully I didn’t make too much of an ass of myself.
Sometimes things like this happen and there’s nothing you can really do to make it all better except for look forward and keep trucking.
I’m watching Penelope right now, and I have to admit that I only wanted to watch it because Russell Brand is in it. OH yeah, and I watched St. Trinians last night for the same reason.
Tomorrow I get to see and mingle with all my media friends! I’m going to miss those guys.
After years of reading blogs religiously, and I mean, daily keeping up with some great writers, being on the pulse of whatever was going on, it’s all over. I don’t read anything online these days, not even the news, and you know what, I’m not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
On the one hand, I know that it’s because I’m really busy these days and that is seriously good. But on the other, I feel as if I’m writing in some kind of a vacuum. I don’t feel connected to the medium and what’s going on and it kind of frustrates me. Part of the reason is because I was in India for a month and my Internet connection was terrible and I couldn’t access any real information. The newspaper there was 2 pages and mostly concerned with the nuclear deal and celebrities.
But now I’m back and I really missed the life I left behind! I missed my Macbook whose power adapter fizzed out on the first day, and I missed writing all my thoughts somewhere just for the heck of it. I missed it all and I am so glad to be back though I am a little out of it still.
