Even Chocolate

Seriously, everything is better fresh. I’m eating chocolate from the Rocky Mountain Chocolate company where they actually make the chocolate in house. I have never tasted better chocolate in all my life and it is amazing! It’s so soft and full of flavour and I just want more and more. Mmmm, I’ll never go back to Lindt after this!

So, the two girls who came over are absolutely adorable. Not that I didn’t expect them to be. But I mean, I adore them, and want to spend time with them. And they are very clear about what they want to do while in town which is Shop. That makes things so much easier because you can think of good shopping centres or malls for them to go to so that they can get exactly what they want.

When they’re around, they’re helpful and social which makes a huge difference. Before going to bed, my cousin comes to my room and spends a couple of hours just chatting away before I get tired and send her back to her room.

The best part is that the first night I found out that she really likes makeup. So of course, we went up to my room and perused some of my collection. She looked through it and I gave her some things that she could take home with her. At times it was difficult to part with certain things but she’s so sweet and it’s the first time I met her, so I gave her my favourite mascara. She ended up leaving with a little box of makeup that I am sure she will use and LOVE, and that makes me so happy. Giving stuff away is fun - when you know that the person to whom you’re giving it will appreciate it as much as you did.

Spending $400 to fast is beyond ridiculous to me.

Perhaps for people with money to spend, that amount of money isn’t such a big deal.

i dunno, i mean it seems mean to judge the people you follow on here, but with the “fame balls” as gawker calls them- i guess they sometimes make it easy to be the subject of ridicule.

that being said im going to find a 5 buck lunch.

Lots of forms of dieting are very expensive. Jenny Craig has a $299 joining fee for example.

Nutrisystem, which my sister is on, costs money for food that seems quite regular, but it works!

This week means that there are a bunch of guests coming to stay with us which is great. I mean, it’s great because it means that something fun is going on, but what sucks is that they’re all coming at the same time and that some of them are coming on short notice. Stress!

Of course, this time we’re more prepared - I’ve stocked up on food of all kinds, and all I have to do is pick up more Diet Coke which is what I shall do later today. We’ve got tons of bread, eggs, milk, and snacks so that we’re not rushing out at the last minute to get more food. Thank goodness, I hope it all goes smoothly!

So a couple of weeks ago, I was a special makeup guest as part of this program for young girls. My job was to do their makeup, and because I have so much of it I decided to give a lot of my makeup away too!

A lot of the girls were super-shy and had never worn makeup before so it was fun to make them look all grown up. They were so cute and one of them couldn’t believe that she was getting some makeup to take home for free. It was so great, and I wish I was invited to do more things like that.

Best of all: it was all for a good job.

So I’m watching “What Happens in Vegas” (I know, I know, but I wanted something lite!) and it’s funny how each city has a look. They made Ashton look really “New York”. I mean, he’s still Ashton, but the bad haircut that’s just a little too long, and him being really laid back and all… as soon as I saw him I thought “Oh, ok, this guy is supposed to be a New York guy…”

Haha, this is so true! I always try to explain it to people and end up talking about the “bubble”. You live in this bubble where you know certain people really well but outside the bubble nobody really cares. And there really is one in every business.

I have only watched the Regis and Kelly Show a couple of times so it’s not like I’m an expert or anything, but the two of them remind me of an organ grinder and a monkey. Specifically, they remind me of a long-suffering organ grinder and an epically annoying self-absorbed anorexic monkey.

There are a couple of reasons for this. The first is that Regis’s role is nearly identical to that of an organ grinder. He’s just trying to do his job and at the same time he has to control the monkey (or, in this case, Kelly). No one is particularly interested in him, he’s just cranking out background noise. Rather, it’s the monkey (again, Kelly) who gets all the attention, because the monkey fucking demands it. In fact, if the monkey senses your focus is drifting away, it will jump around, gesticulating wildly and making loud, shrill noises.

The second reason they remind me of an organ grinder and a monkey is that Regis looks like an organ grinder and Kelly looks like a monkey.

I’m sorry but I need to say something since I’ve watched the show more than twice: Kelly Ripa is skinny because she works out and she has a better body than most men I’ve ever met. She’s not anorexic, she’s ripped! It’s so easy to point at someone and label them as having an eating disorder but lets give people the right to be: a) naturally skinny and b) able to afford a personal trainer and 3 free hours a day to work out.

I had lunch last weekend with a really smart woman. She knew her shit inside and out and tried to make it to as many events as she could. She also had a new job that she was proud and excited about.

What she really made known to me is that your time is valuable and if you’re doing work for someone, make sure that it is recognized in some way. Don’t let people walk all over you and make sure that if you have a problem with something or someone, you make it known. I mean, these are learning instances anyway, but they are important ones.

She ended our lunch with a follow-up text an hour later saying that it was great to get together. That was nice. It’s a small gesture that means so much and hardly anyone does. I’m in the midst of writing my own thank you emails this weekend, and I now realize how important little things like this are.
